Ester India was established in 1980 as a small-scale unit manufacturing fine chemicals at Nandesari, about 16 km north of Vadodara in western India. From the beginning the emphasis has been on developing in-house technologies for high-value products: the hydantoin molecule was developed in 1982, making us pioneers of this chemistry in the country.
Pioneering your chemical journey
We manufacture across three verticals: pharma intermediates, the first; water-treatment biocides and chemicals for plastics and paints; and, most recently, preservatives and speciality ingredients for cosmetics, personal care and home care. Today three halogenated derivatives of the hydantoin molecule, dibromo-, dichloro- and bromochloro-dimethylhydantoin, are manufactured and marketed alongside the EsoDant preservative range.
By virtue of its ethical business practices and excellent customer service, Ester India has earned the trust of some of the most reputed domestic and multinational companies in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. We export cosmetic chemicals to North and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South-East Asia, Australia and Japan, supply many multinational and Indian companies on a regular basis, and toll-manufacture for several MNCs.
From 36 tonnes to 1,800
- 1980Incorporated at Nandesari, Vadodara, as a small-scale fine-chemicals unit. The first product was an ester, hence the name.
- 1982Hydantoin and its derivatives developed in-house and started at 36 tonnes per annum, a first in India.
- 1995Acquired the adjoining plot and raised capacity to 120 tonnes per annum.
- 2012Constructed a new production block, taking capacity to 360 tonnes per annum.
- 2019Environmental clearance to expand Unit 1 to 1,800 tonnes per annum; new office block, warehouse and effluent-treatment expansion.
- 2020EcoVadis Silver sustainability rating.
- 2022Land acquired at Dahej–Saykha GIDC for a second manufacturing site.
- 202646 years of manufacturing. 23+ EsoDant preservative systems, EsoThick rheology modifiers and EsoGuard UV filters.
